Spring Skiing

When most people, unfamiliar with our specific area of BC, hear the term ‘spring’, they think of skiing or boarding in ‘slush’. This is not the case high in the Monashee Mountains. Late March and April are times of continued cold powder snowfalls combined with fair weather, and sunshine. This time of year is a best kept secret amongst experienced heliskiers. This is also a favorite time of year for the ski film teams because the snowpack is at its deepest, and is generally more consolidated and predictable.

If conditions are right, we can ski in the sun in ‘corn’ snow part of the day, then shift to the protected powder slopes that are out of the sun in the afternoon.  General stable snow conditions also give us the chance to ski the ‘big’ alpine—open bowls and challenging chutes.

In the springtime, longer days and blue bird skies give us the luxury to take a longer lunch, and admire the surrounding vistas. The many benefits of later-season skiing are obvious to anyone who has been here at that time of year. Why not book a spring trip this year and find out for yourself? Contact us for details.
