Heli skiing and heli boarding in British Columbia are difficult and demanding activities and are not meant for beginner skiers or boarders.
You must be a strong intermediate skier or expert boarder in order to ski with us at Eagle Pass Heli Skiing. You should be able to negotiate all black diamond terrain within ski resort boundaries in any weather or snow conditions and should be able to ski most of a day without becoming unduly tired. You must be comfortable skiing/boarding in any snow conditions. While we will endeavour to match similar skier abilities in each ski group, arriving here with a lack of fitness and poor skiing skills will negatively impact your heliski experience. We recommend starting training programs at least 6 weeks prior to your ski week and that you have ten or more days skiing in before arriving. It would also be beneficial arriving a few days early to warm up at one of the local ski resorts.
That said, the benefit of skiing or riding in small groups of 4 allows the guide to gauge the speed of each particular group to its own ability levels. Eagle Pass Heliskiing has had groups of 4 friends that ski together, and at their own pace. It is not uncommon for faster heliskiing groups to 'lap' groups that are skiing or riding at a more leisurely pace.
Of course our ‘private’ heli sking and boarding packages allow a much greater degree of flexibility as the group can dictate the pace at which they want to ski. The group can ski as much or as little as they want. Please talk to our staff while booking for more information.
As part of your exclusive BC heliskiing package, Eagle Pass Heliskiing offers ‘Fat’ powder skis for guest use. These powder skis add to the floatation and ease of turning in the deep snow, thereby making the heliski experience easier and more enjoyable.
Snowboarders are requested to bring their own appropriate deep powder boards.
