Learn More About the Vertical Guarantee.
For the 2008/09 season, Eagle Pass Heliskiing has increased our Package Vertical Guarantee to be amongst the highest in the industry.
This guarantee averages out to 5,000 vertical meters (16,400’) per day over the length of your package. Compare and you will notice that this is amongst the highest in the industry. We can offer this as we have very few “down days” due to poor flying conditions. Contrary to popular belief, we can still fly and ski when it is snowing, which is standard around here. Our skilled pilots can use the tree’s for reference in flying us to our world famous tree skiing. There is also an abundance of stormy weather ski runs only minutes from the lodge.
Eagle Pass Heliskiing can achieve this guarantee due to the overall efficiency of flying only 3 groups with the helicopter. This results in quick cycles, with guests rarely having to wait for their lift to the next run.
For those of you that are not familiar with the heliskiing standard method of measuring the amount of skiing that is included in your ski/boarding package, please take note of the following. Each run is measured in the vertical drop, from the top to bottom. At the end of each day the “vertical” is tabulated so that each guest is aware how much they have skied, and how much is left on their particular package guarantee. At Eagle Pass, these runs average between 550 Meters (1,800’) to 800 Meters (2,600’). We have an abundance of runs with a vertical of 1,000 Meters, (3,300), and a few exceptional high burners of 1,500 Meters (5,000’). If a guest reaches their limit of their guarantee before the end of their trip package, they have the option of continuing to ski or not. This gives the guest some influence on the amount that they want to ski or board. Extra skiing above the guarantee is charged at $139 per thousand meters (3,300’). Taking into account the original investment in time and resources to come heliskiing, most clients realize the cost for this additional skiing is quite minimal. We have seen clients ski and enjoy up to 50% more than their guaranteed package. (EPH requires that a minimum number of skiers are required in the group to proceed beyond the guarantee.)
In putting your own group of 4 together, Eph can cater to the speed of that particular group very easily.
For example we have groups comprised of skiers over 65 years of age who are here just to ski the “crème de la crème”, going at their own pace, and enjoying the scenery and total experience. We have also had groups rack up to 11,000 meters (36,000’) in a day.
Please refer to our refund policy for unused vertical. It must be noted that if one chooses not to ski on any particular day (sometimes due to injury or being tired, or from the effects of consuming too much “beverages”!), EPH cannot offer refunds.
